Our History: Past, Present & Future

Offot Ukwa Association's seeds were planted in Baltimore, Maryland, USA in 2010 when a group of determined sons of Offot clan, Akwa Ibom State, led by Dr. Mac Ukpong, as the interim chairman, Dr. Ibanga Ikpe as the secretary pro-temp and Mike Essien, Esq, as the legal counsel met to organize Offot sons and daughters into forming an association. Other inaugural members present were, Mr. Edem Andy, Mr. Emmanuel Etim, Mr. Joseph Ibokette, Mr. Chris Okon, Chief Uwem Inim, and Mr. Edet Udofia.

At approximately the same time, Akwa Ibom State Association, USA INC (Akisan)-National, had also conducted its' national election. The need was felt for many existing and non-existing groups to embark on a journey to build an association where culture, social and ethnic pride are accepted and appreciated by all members. The nine inaugural members recruited and invited all sons and daughters of Offot clan in the USA to meet and discuss their affairs and the need to form an association.

With determination, limited resources, dedication and commitment to a vision, sons and daughters of Offot Clan of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria converged in Dallas, Texas on March 2011 and incorporated OFFOT UKWA ASSOCIATION, USA, Inc. Today, Offot Ukwa Association, USA, Inc (OUA) with its rich culture, ethnic pride and a bright future is also a full-fledged non-profit association with aims of working to uplift sons and daughters of Offot Ukwa wherever the need arises.
